Learn and Help Academy Policies

To register for Learn and Help Academy courses, you are following the domestic laws of the country of Guatemala, without taking into account the principles of conflict of laws, will govern this agreement and any dispute of any sort that may arise between you and the Learn and Help Academy. The following policies also apply to your enrollment of classes with the Learn and Help Academy and Humanity First.



Payments must be made prior to the start of classes via online payment on the Learn and Help Academy website or if courses are being taken at the Learn and Help Academy in Antigua, Guatemala, cash payments will be accepted in US dollars or Guatemalan Quetzales. Your schedule is confirmed at the time of payment. Please note: Payment for classes are not tax-deductible.



Throughout the registration process, Learn and Help Academy will ask for personal information, which will be necessary to enroll you and contact you. Personal information may include your name, position, company or organization, email address, phone number from work or home, profession, and your credit card information. This information is considered confidential and will be used only by Learn and Help Academy for educational purposes. Your information will not be shared or sold to any third parties.



Humanity First understands that in certain situations, it may be necessary to cancel or modify reservations. To request a refund, you must contact staff at a week in advance. Cancellations will be made with a $25 penalty fee for administrative and preparation costs.



Instructors at the Learn and Help Academy are assigned based on the individual needs and requirements of each student. If you are not satisfied with your instructor, it is possible to change at any time.



Students will receive their class materials throughout their courses via the instructors. Your schedule must be confirmed and payment for package must be made to receive this material.



Students' class schedules are created according to the availability and preferred schedule provided at the time of registration. If you are unsatisfied with your schedule, you must inform Learn and Help Academy staff prior to the start of your courses and prior to confirming your contract. If you need to make changes to your schedule once your courses have begun, you must inform Learn and Help Academy staff one week in advance. With exception to medical emergencies, no class will be rescheduled if cancelled later than the Friday prior to the class.



It is necessary for students to be aware that their schedules will be made according to the Guatemalan time zone (UTC-6). Learn and Help Academy is not responsible for missed class, online or on-site, if the client forgets to attend at the established time. The instructors will wait 15 minutes, after which class will be considered missed. Refunds and rescheduling of unexcused missed classes is not allowed.

E-Learning Logistics


If the connection is interrupted during an E-Learning class, the time to re-connect must be within 15 minutes, with the exception of slow speed or failed internet connection. If Learn and Help Academy instructors fail to connect due to power outages or other inconveniences, the student has the right to reschedule class at the day and hour they prefer.



You must indicate at the time of registration whether you will need accommodation and transportation during your enrollment at Learn and Help Academy. Fees for these arrangements are not included in your package fee, and will be additional fees that you will be required to pay for before arrival. You can request your preference for accommodation during registration and will receive rates based on your selection and duration of stay.
