Many Guatemalan women from rural communities are living in extreme poverty and struggle with domestic abuse and depression to malnutrition and other health issues. In order to empower women from such conditions Humanity First has collaborated with the Sacatepéquez Department for women and developed vocational training programs, training women in Sumpango in basic sewing and tailor skills. At the completion of the course the women receive a sewing machine which they use as a means to create and sell their own products as a source of income to support themselves and families.
Humanity First strongly values the empowerment of the women of Guatemala to make them leaders of their community and a source of strength and positivity within their own families.
  • 40 women completed year long course in sewing and tailoring
